Iromi names the color you point your camera at, out loud — and tells you when the light can’t be trusted.

The problem every color app has

Phone cameras adjust white balance and exposure constantly. Point one at a white wall under a warm bulb and it records something closer to beige. Point it at a navy shirt in dim light and it records something close to black.

Every color app reads those pixels and states a color as fact. If you can see the object, you notice the mistake and move on. If you can’t, you have no way to know it happened.

What Iromi does instead

• Says the color out loud

  Point the center of the screen at something and Iromi speaks its name. Live scan reads continuously and only speaks when the answer actually changes.

• Tells you how sure it is

  Confident readings are stated plainly. Uncertain ones are hedged — “likely navy blue, or black.” Readings it can’t stand behind aren’t named at all.

• Tells you what to do about it

  Instead of a shrug, you get the next step: too dark, too bright, you’re on an edge, hold steady, move closer, or calibrate to the light you’re in.

• Corrects for your lighting

  Point at something white or grey and tap once. Iromi works out the color of the light you’re standing in and corrects every reading after that.

Free, and staying that way

Not free for now. Free as a commitment, written into how the app is built:

• The core loop is free forever — point, identify, hear. No limits, no ads, no subscription.
• Anything that decides whether a reading is right is free — the whole confidence system, and lighting calibration. Charging for “we’ll tell you when we’re unsure” could get someone hurt.
• Every accessibility setting is free — VoiceOver support, Dynamic Type, voice, speaking rate, verbosity, haptics.
• No ads, ever. You cannot dismiss a popup you cannot see.

If a paid unlock arrives later, it will be a one-time purchase for genuine extras — history, custom names, saved lighting profiles. Nothing above will move behind it.

Built for how you actually use it

Designed VoiceOver-first rather than retrofitted. Confidence is conveyed four ways at once — words, sound, haptics, and shape — so it lands whether you’re listening, feeling, or looking. Color is never the only signal, which matters in an app whose users are often colorblind.

It works entirely offline. Nothing you point the camera at leaves your phone.
